The idea

Turn a missing domain into a gothic tragedy, with Emma Stone mourning the loss of her own name as if it were an existential catastrophe.

Timeless principle

Give a mundane product problem the emotional scale it has in the customer’s mind.

Why it works

Domain registration is usually too small to dramatize. The film solves that by treating one unavailable URL as a threat to identity: Stone lives alone in a brutalist house, repeats the failed search, and destroys laptop after laptop while the black-and-white photography escalates practical frustration into gothic obsession. The absurd scale is the joke, but it never obscures the product truth. Because the campaign uses Stone’s real name and Lanthimos’s severe cinematic language, ‘get your domain before you lose it’ lands as both plot resolution and useful advice. The product benefit becomes loss aversion the audience can immediately picture.
